By Carsten Paulun The prototype is ready, the launch is planned for 2013: With the E-Up will VW in terms of alternative propulsion in the small class take seriously. The feelgood factor should not be distinguished from the conventional set in motion models. And indeed, with the initial contact with the E-everything is up as usual, I’m fine, I am on an immaculate cockpit. The batteries and plug in between the seats, so no place to rob in the trunk, the rear seats are folded down.

Enough for the city: on one battery charge the E-Up is 150 kilometers

.And how it operates? Easy! Foot on the brake pedal, roll over the ignition key, push the selector lever to D and off you go. The E-machine pushes forward the e-up as strong as the petrol. Engine sounds are missing, but I hear tires and wind clearly. Still rolled up from the E-quite hard, which is 250 kg more weight felt in the spring. The VW wants to change. Just as the steering a little numb. Completely exhaust-free buzz through the city – great. But only if the current is not generated with fossil fuels like coal. Speaking of power: Enter up to 150 km range are inside, a battery charge at the 230-volt outlet takes 5 hours. And it still is a big downside: Although the price is not yet clear, but it is under 22,500 euros barely walk. A gasoline-up costs in half.
